Clemens Food Group
As Clemens Food Group continued to grow, they wanted to add freezer/cooler space along with additional blast freezing capacity to their meat plant in Hatfield, PA. Tippmann and Clemens had previously worked together on CFC Logistics, a 254,00 square foot PRW start-up that was built in two phases. Based on that relationship, Clemens came back to Tippmann Group for this project.
Tippmann Group had also recently developed and patented a new alternative to blast freezing, the QFR Zone®. The new system is much more energy efficient than a traditional blast freezer, and also cuts labor costs dramatically because of the ease of loading and unloading pallets into the QFR Zone®.
Tippmann Group installed 8 QFR Zones® in the main freezer of the new 95,000 square foot warehouse, giving Hatfield 320 new pallet positions for their quick freezing needs. It was the first installation of the QFR Zone® quick freezing technology in the country.
Several years later, Clemens called on Tippmann Group with another project, an AS/RS warehouse that would handle full pallet movement, combined with manual case picking. Tippmann designed a 12-level, rack-supported structure, featuring two cranes and a 7-deep shuttle system which is capable of handling 1,100 SKUs and has a designed thru-put of 90 pallets per hour.
The 26,000 square foot AS/RS project added more than 6,800 pallet positions to the Clemens facility.
