Lipari Foods 2
Approximately 10 years after Tippmann Group built a new distribution center for Lipari Foods, Lipari found themselves in another period of growth through multiple acquisitions and they outgrew their facility. The need for a new warehouse to take on additional business led them to look nearby at a brownfield site directly across the street.
The property was actually 2 separate parcels, so Tippmann Group combined the two plats into one for Lipari’s new project. In addition to the challenges associated with a brownfield site, the layout of the facility had to be just right in order to accommodate the size of building needed, along with truck traffic and staging. An active rail line along the back side of the property also needed to be considered.
Tippmann’s design team went to work and designed a 260,000 square foot facility to fit nicely into the site.
Due to the nature of the brownfield site, Tippmann used geopiers and an enhanced concrete slab in order to secure the ground and provide a solid foundation for the building. Nearly 3,700 geopiers were put in place on the project.
The facility features both freezer and cooler space with approximately 38,000 pallet positions, and the cooler is designed to be convertible to freezer in the future. Even with all of the site challenges, the project finished on time and Lipari was able to move into the new distribution center when they needed to.
