Colored LED Uplights Set To Debut Veteran’s Day in Red, White & Blue

(Fort Wayne, IN – November 9, 2017) – Lincoln Tower’s exterior lighting is getting a facelift, and the Fort Wayne skyline will soon be more colorful at night than ever before. Programmable colored LED uplights have been installed on the Lincoln Tower and will be set to display unique color combinations on selected holidays and special events. Fort Wayne visitors and residents may have noticed some of the testing of the new lights throughout the fall, including the green and red lighting during a TinCaps game. The new lighting will officially make its debut at dusk on the evening of November 11th, in celebration of Veteran’s Day, when the top of the tower turns red, white, and blue to honor our veterans and our country.

Tippmann Group (owner of the Lincoln Tower building) and Old National Bank (the largest tenant in the building) worked together on this project to bring festive and energy-efficient lighting to the building. The process is similar to what some may be familiar with at buildings such as the Empire State Building in New York City. “We thought this would be an excellent way for us to draw attention to the Historic Lincoln Tower Building and the downtown Fort Wayne headquarters of Old National Bank,” said Joe Wharton, General Manager of Tippmann Group. “We also want to say thank you to all veterans who have served the United States, giving us the ability to enjoy the freedom that we have today.”

In addition to the visual appeal of the new lighting, the energy efficiency of LED lighting is providing added savings, using less than half the wattage of the current fixtures while providing the same brightness. Some of the holidays on the schedule for special colored lighting include Independence Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Eve.
